After the Jilly Bean recovered from her 12 hour puke fest, she told me she was bored. She was bored. She was bored. About twenty times. So I asked her if she wanted to color her sneakers like the kids did when I was younger. She was all over it so I pulled out the fabric paint and sharpies. We followed this great tutorial on Lil Blue Boo’s web site
Then the debate started.
Me: What do you want to write on your shoes?
Bean: Stars and peace signs.
Me: And what words do you want?
Bean: I want to say ‘Peace Out Suckas!’
Me: (have my face in my hands, forehead on the counter, can’t stop laughing)
Bean: Mommy I can’t hear you take your hands off your face!
Me: Bean! Nice kindergarten girls do not have ‘Peace Out Suckas!’ on their shoes
Bean: Ask Daddy.
So, I go ask Brian. I cannot hear him with his face in his hands. He finally says, “NO!” which she hears. We finally compromise and start making the shoes. She is thrilled.
This morning she puts them on and we head out the door for school. We pull up to the curb and Ben and the Bean jump out. I yell my standard “have a great day!” which really means “I have my finger on the button to close the van door and there’s no way you’re gettin back in here!”. The Bean turns to me in full view of all the other parents dropping off, flips me a peace sign and yells, “Peace out sucka!”. So proud. So, so, proud.
