There are so many milestones we celebrate with our kids. The formal ones like birthdays and graduations, but there are also the little ones like riding a bike, the first lost tooth, and a week without anyone peeing on the floor which means you have potty trained your twins. Or learned to cross your legs when you laugh.
Anyway, the puke virus has come to visit our house and she’s really a bitch this year. Ben was down with six straight hours of bowl hugging, and now the Jilly Bean is recovering from a night spent lying on her bathroom floor like a Pi Phi after a rookie tequila bender. But in between all the yacking, we have a lot to celebrate. Both my kindergarteners made it to the toilet and the bucket. Words cannot describe the joy in no longer having to clean purple popsicle puke out of the carpet. Because the kids always bounce back, but the carpet never does.
Really, I did reward Ben for his accomplishment by taking him to Target to pick out a new DS game. And after she can hold down some ramen noodle soup, then the Bean will get a similar trip. I don’t believe in the Easter Bunny bringing Barbie Jeeps or getting $50 in toys for the first lost tooth. I’m pretty old school on those traditions. But hitting the bucket? In my house that’s practically Christmas.
